I obtained a degree in Physics from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in 2002 under the supervision of Dr. Fernando Magana and a D.Phil (PhD) in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Oxford in 2006 under the supervision of Dr. Michael Johnston in the area of terahertz spactroscopy. During 2007 I did a postdoc in the same group. In 2008 I was appointed research fellow at the materials department of the University of Oxford where I worked on characterisation of nanomaterials. Since January 2009 I joined the photonics department at Centro de Investigaciones en Optica (CIO) as a research professor.

Research
My research interests include the applications and developement of terahertz spectroscopy techniques with particular emphasis on the study of ultrafast charge transport in semiconductors, spin injection in semiconductors, surface and interface non-linear optics as well as low frequency vibrations of biomolecular systems.

Teaching
I teach the Optoelectronics and Photonics courses as well as the Ultrafast Optics and Mechanical Workshop options as part of our graduate programmes.
